Tornado Farewell GR.4 Special Retirement Livery 2019 Insignia Paint Mask Set 1/32
Suggested scale: 1/32
Suggested kit: Italeri Tornado GR.4 #2513
Re-usable die-cut mask set
Two versions of the paint scheme are included
The set includes two sheets of pre-cut masks (shown in the picture). The masks are made from thin masking tape, which is easy to be peeled off and doesn’t leave any stains. The tape is tested on clear and painted model too. If carefully removed after painting, they can be used over and over again. It is flexible and easily applied over curved surfaces. Semi-transparent for easy and accurate placing.
Farewell Tornado GR.4
paint mask set is meant to be used with 32nd scale kits of Panavia Tornado GR.4. The set is designed and based on the Italeri 32nd scale Tornado GR.4 kit #ITA2513, which is the latest and most advanced tooling of the swing wing jet. The paint mask set is suitable for other 32nd scale kits as well. Alongside with it, DN Models offers a canopy mask set designed specifically for Italeri #2513 kit, which features both interior and exterior paint masks for the canopy. The “Farewell Tornado” Special Livery Retirement scheme was introduced in 2019, commemorating the last flights of the GR.4 in the Royal Air Force. Three GR.4s were painted and were showed to the public, two of which are doable with this mask set. The third Tornado GR.4 represented the standard two-tone camouflage scheme typical for early RAF GR.4s.
Missing Elements
due to some limitations of the cutting process and of the medium used, the mask set does not feature all the elements on the insignia of the “Farewell Tornado” GR.4 schemes. Some of the elements should be substituted with decals, which can be either home-made or aftermarket. Italeri GR.4 kit features the decals needed for one of the versions OOTB. If a different kit is used, several aftermarket decals for both versions are available on the market. In this DN Models’ set, the missing elements are: the square insignia in front of the nose roundel and the “Panavia” element from the vertical fin section. Both of them cannot be replicated with masks in that scale using this specific medium. As with all the masking sets, additional masking might be needed. The missing elements are not shown on the DN Models’ sheet, only the ones featured in the set are displayed.
