Saab 37 Viggen Splinter Camo Paint Mask set 1/32 – Limited Edition
Suggested scale: 1/32
Suggested kits: Jetmads Saab JA37 Viggen 1:32
The masks are re-usable
The set includes three sheets of pre-cut masks (shown in the picture). The masks are made from thin masking tape, which is easy to be peeled off and doesn’t leave any stains. The tape is tested on clear and painted model too. If carefully removed after painting, they can be used over and over again. It is flexible and easily applied over curved surfaces. Semi-transparent for easy and accurate placing.
Saab 37 Viggen
has been an example for attractive and unusual camouflage scheme for decades. With its Green Splinter Camouflage, Saab 37 Viggen became a predecessor of the modern day camo schemes, which now includes splinter and digital camouflages with various colors and sizes. The first mass produced airplane that appeared in such scheme was the Saab 37 Viggen. For nearly three and a half decades it was the backbone of the Swedish Air Force and even though without any sales abroad, it was one of the best airplanes that served Europe for the time that it was used actively.
32nd scale Viggen
was introduced by Jetmads, with that kit being the only one mass produced large scale set on the market. The kit became a rare find even before its official release, since pre-orders were closed within days after announcement. 3D printed or scratch built Viggens in large scale have been discussed, but none of them gain any popularity and there is no mass produced option besides Jetmads Saab 37 Viggen. The mask set for the kit in 32nd scale is based on the drawings of Saab 37 Viggen and the kind help of Jetmads team, who provided us with additional info to improve our set. Some additional masking might be needed to cover the Jetmads kit, or any 3D printed kit in 32nd scale. This is mostly due to the complex shape of the fuselage. Due to the limited run of the 32nd scale Saab 37 Viggen, the DN Models’ mask set is also a Limited Edition.
Jetmads JA37 Viggen
is promised to be the most accurate kit of the Saab Viggen in any scale. It represents the so-called “second generation” Viggen and it features plenty of details which are beyond the reach of the contemporary injection moulding production. The Saab Viggen is a massive plane in real life and in 32nd scale is relatively huge as well. Masking and painting out the camo scheme is the best way to achieve realism for such project. Jetmads set is promised to feature plenty of paint schemes, plus some additional info regarding the splinter camouflage. The DN Models set is not related to the Jetmads directly, but it covers the well-known splinter scheme in great detail.
