Helix-B is a Soviet Naval helicopter made by Kamov design bureau. Ka-29 is the assault version of the vehicle, Ka-28 – the export variant, Ka-32 – civilian, etc. All of the above are based on Ka-27 Helix. Latter one is a successor of Ka-25 and was developed in the 70s for the Soviet NAVY. Mentioned Kamov helicopters are equipped with coaxial rotors, being their most distinctive feature. There is no tail rotor, nor any other balancing device, the main rotors work the problem out. The Helix-B variant /Ka-29TB/ can carry up to 16 troops, rockets, guns, bombs and even anti-tank missiles. Only 60 of this specific model has been produced, but they remain in service and are still being upgraded. The Ka-27 platform ended being very successful and is developed to this day.
The Mask set
from DN Models is designed for Trumpeter Ka-29 Helix-B #05110. At the time of its release it is the only injection molded Ka-29 tooling on the market in 35th scale. The mask set is not compatible with any custom made resin and 3D printed kits of the same subject. The DN Models’ set features exterior and interior masks. Alongside with the very popular HobbyBoss #81739 Ka-27 Helix kit in 48th scale, the Trumpeter 35th Ka-29 can be turned into a superb set of two different scales of Soviet Naval Aviation. Even though both are based on the same platform, the final appearance is very different, mostly due to the variations in the canopy arrangement and the camouflage scheme on the Ka-29 Helix-B.
