Re-usable die-cut paint masks
The set includes two sheets of pre-cut masks (shown in the picture). The masks are made from thin masking tape, which is easy to be peeled off and doesn’t leave any stains. The tape is tested on clear and painted model too. If carefully removed after painting, they can be used over and over again. It is flexible and easily applied over curved surfaces. Semi-transparent for easy and accurate placing.
USAFE Camouflage
was applied on some of the F-4 Phantom IIs stationed at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany. They were part of USAFE – US Air Forces in Europe. Alongside with those, initial production A-10s were camouflaged in similar manner. The paint scheme was designed for European Theatre and was darker compared to the standard brown-ish camo schemes used on F-4s and F-111s flown from European bases. With the end of the Cold War, those camouflage schemes gradually disappeared, being replaced mostly by single or dual-tone gray paint schemes. Nevertheless, F-4Es, RF-4s and F-4Gs wearing USAFE camouflage were very attractive, due to their unusual appearance and sleek looks.
F-4 Phantom II
wearing USAFE were mostly Wild Weasel F-4G models, but some F-4Es and RF-4s can be seen in that paint scheme as well. The darker green colors of the camouflage were very successful in the forest areas of Europe. The prototype variant of F-15E Strike Eagle was initially planned wearing that exact color combination, again – due to the successful stealth appearance. Later on, that too was changed for single tone appearance, in this particular case picking very dark gray as the main color. This DN Models’ set is designed for 72nd scale F-4E, F-4G and RF-4s and is suitable for most of the toolings available on the market.
