Apache is an US-made dual-engine, attack helicopter. It was developed in the 1970s as a successor of AH-1 Cobra. AH-64 production started in 1975 and has not stopped since. More than 2400 helicopters are built. The Apache helicopter served in multiple theaters and various operations. Amongst these were Panama, Desert Storm, Kosovo, Afghanistan, OIF and others. AH-64 is operated by USA, UK, UAE, Israel, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia, Japan, Greece, Egypt and others. AH-64 is currently considered as the most sophisticated attack helicopter in the World, despite its age. The two crew arrangement plus the wide variety of weapons and systems guarantee its longevity for years to come. In addition, its variants are still offered and constantly upgraded. Thanx to AH-64s high survivability and success rate, it will most likely remain couple more decades in service.
