Heinkel He-111 H-6 – Border Model

Heinkel He-111 is a Luftwaffe legend. Its shape, being beyond of this world for its time is one of the reasons. There are other reasons of course, some from its day and age, as well as some from our relatively close past. Motorhead once released an album called “Bomber”, being famous for its artwork, featuring the one and only – abovementioned. As Lemmy described it – it is a “One mean looking machine“.

He-111 has been lost for modelers last couple years or so. Maybe even before that. Somewhat neglected and forgotten, the plane was left behind the shadow of new Bf109s, Fw190s, Spitfires and such. Luckily for us, Border Model will revive it. And it will be nothing short of a miracle, knowing that they will do it in their famous 35th scale, which will match all the armor that we have in stash.

Heinkel He-111 has many variants. Border are opening the door with H-6. This was mostly a torpedo bomber and is relatively mid-life variant of the one-eleven. But there is no doubt that there will be others to follow. The interesting thing here – as usual – is the scale. He-111 is not a small plane by any means, even in 48th scale. Truly, 35th is not 32nd, but they are very close. So you can imagine that both its size and the space required will be large. And as those two are glued together, there is also the price. That, most likely won’t be small either.

But there is more to that. Like engines, which seem rather complex, PE parts here and there, interior elements, as well as surface details that seem to be out of this World. All out of the box. A true 21st century tooling of a 20th century legend. So whatever the price tag might be, we personally expect a super-hit with this plane. A lot bigger impact than the Lancaster Border released. And our main reason for this logic is, that this seems to be a completely new tooling, proprietary for the company, which the Lanc was not.

There is a lot more to be said and shown on the matter, but this is as far as our knowledge goes as of January 2024. In the same time, our expectations are great and overall, the feeling that Border left us with is positive and promising. Heinkel one-eleven is a plane that deserves a lot more attention than it gets and maybe Border will change this into the new reality. We look forward for more on their end.
