2016 the year of the Abrams Part 2DN Models
As I’ve mentioned before in this article, 2016 is going to be the year of the Abrams tank. Now, confirming my words, Sabot Publications LLC appeared on the market. It is a brand new company, registered in USA and created by two modelers and tank experts: Chris Mrosko and Brett Avants. According to Meng Model info, they helped them with creating their M1A2 Abrams kit, which is currently hitting the shelves.
According to the research that some Abrams fans did, it will be state-of-the-art piece of kit, and now, with this reference book appearing on the market, we know why. From the few pictures I saw of that Abrams reference book, it seems that it contains very highly detailed pictures of small and tricky parts of the tank, the ones that if you do replicate in scale you will be most likely assured that you have an accurate model.
We have seen such collaborations before, most notable of those between Meng Model and DEP – Desert Eagle Publishing. The books are not technical-oriented, but rather specifically modeler-oriented, containing hundreds of pictures of specific subject, giving a new perspective towards it, especially to the modelers who have no access to it. They usually are the most devoted fans, right!?
The book from Sabot Publications holds more than 300 photos of Abrams tanks, some of those never seen before, and they are spread throughout 100 pages. The guys didn’t stop there, but promised another book, featuring Abrams tank again /I told you 2016 is the Abrams year!/, but this time different version of it. It is Abrams ABV – Assault Breacher Vehicle. I don’t want to spoil it, but probably we can expect a long long line of different Abrams tanks from Meng Model.
With that being said, I want to add that it is nice to have more and more reference publications, especially those new ones, since they are far better than the older releases. With the more demanding modeling society in terms of detailing, accuracy and quality of the molds, these books, videos and what not go hand in hand with the new toolings. There is no other way around it. Especially for the Abrams, which 25 years ago was somewhat mythological creature of the modern warfare, now we want to know more and to apply it onto our new highly-detailed kits.
Well, there we go! We have it! Thank you Sabot Publications!
